Our story
The gap nobody was filling.
OnDiet Kitchen is a dietitian-led frozen food brand in Lahore. It exists because there was nothing sitting between cooking every meal from scratch and paying for a full-time meal service, and that gap is where most people actually live.
The same conversation, over and over
As a dietitian, I kept having a version of the same conversation. Someone wants to eat better. They know they need more protein. They have already read enough to know what a decent plate looks like. None of that was the problem.
The problem was Tuesday. Work ran late, the kids needed feeding, nothing was defrosted, and the plan quietly collapsed into whatever was quickest. Not a knowledge gap. A time gap.
Two options, and neither one fits
Faced with that, most people are offered a choice between two things.
Cook everything yourself: marinate, portion, prep on a Sunday, keep it up for weeks. It works, right up until the first busy week, and then it does not.
Or buy a full-time meal service: someone else cooks every meal, and you pay for every meal. Genuinely useful, and genuinely out of reach for most households in Lahore.
Almost nobody needs every meal solved. They need the hard part solved, on the days it is hard.
The hard part is almost always the protein. Roti takes minutes. Rice takes minutes. Salad takes no cooking at all. It is the chicken that needs buying, trimming, marinating and planning ahead for, and it is the chicken people skip when time runs short. Skip it often enough and the whole plate falls apart.
So that is what we make. The protein component, cooked into recipes worth eating, frozen in portions, ready when the day gets away from you. You add the rest.
How a recipe gets made
Every product is a recipe we refused to leave alone
Anyone can freeze a good recipe. We start from the nutrition and work backwards to the flavour, then ask five questions before anything reaches the menu.
Can we raise the protein?
Protein is designed in from the first draft, not measured at the end and reported.
Can we cut empty calories?
Every ingredient and quantity is examined for calories that add nothing to the dish.
Can we improve the balance?
A better profile across protein, carbohydrate and fat, not simply a smaller number.
Does it still taste right?
If it does not taste like the food people already love, it has failed, whatever the label says.
Can people afford to restock?
Food you buy once and never again has not solved anything. It has to work every week.
No guessing
If we will not print the numbers, we will not sell it.
Most frozen food tells you very little. Even freshly cooked food rarely tells you how much protein is actually on your plate. That is a strange thing to accept from the food you eat most often.
Every OnDiet Kitchen pack carries a QR code. Scan it and you get calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, serving size, ingredients and cooking instructions for that exact product. The same figures are published on this website, where you can read them before you buy.
What we are not
We are not a meal plan. There is no week to sign up to, no subscription, and no minimum order. Buy one pack of roti or restock the whole freezer.
We are not a diet brand either, whatever the name suggests. You do not have to be trying to change your weight to want food with more protein and fewer wasted calories in it. Most of our customers are simply busy people who would rather eat well than not.
And we are not trying to replace your cooking. Add your own roti, rice, vegetables and salad, in whatever portions suit you. We handle one part of the plate, properly.
